Crops are "grown" by pressing a button on a console, and then "watered" by interacting with them. The systems underpinning crop management are very simple. Players grow crops, raise pet Mancubuses (Mancubi?) barter with a friendly Hellknight who runs the local corner shop, and explore a nearby "Mine" populated by all manner of demonic nasties which also need to be harvested. One of the most ambitious maps currently in existence, Harvest DOOM attempts to transform DOOM into Harvest Moon. Sometimes the lack of co-op can be beneficial to FPS titles, if Wolfenstein: The New Order is any indication, and ultimately, we trust id Software and Bethesda's judgment on the matter. While SnapMap won't offer a true co-op campaign experience, it's better than nothing, and it ensures that Doom will have at least some co-op elements to it to along with what is shaping up to be excellent campaign and versus multiplayer modes.Īfter spending many long years in development hell, fans are eager to jump into a brand new Doom experience, so while the lack of co-op is disappointing, it's a far better alternative than having Bethesda delay the game just to force it in. SnapMap will allow players to create their own game modes, maps, and experiences, and Marty Stratton claims that by linking together multiple maps in a playlist, players could essentially build their own co-op campaign in Doom to share with the world. SnapMap is a built-in modding tool that will ship with Doom.

Technically speaking, players can utilize the game's new SnapMap feature to create their own co-op experiences. This lack of co-op is disappointing, but all hope is not yet lost for those yearning to team up with friends to fight the demonic hordes of Doom together. This time around, the campaign will be a strictly single-player experience, but Stratton did offer hope that sequels could potentially feature co-op.

By and large, Doom looked very impressive at E3, but it has now been announced that a feature many assumed to be a virtual guarantee is not included in the game.ĭespite the fact that classic Doom titles embraced cooperative gameplay, Marty Stratton of id Software has confirmed to PC Gamer that the new Doom will not have campaign co-op. The new Doom is a game firmly rooted in the tradition of classic shooters, despite enjoying many perks of the new generation, particularly gorgeous graphics that allow for some of the most detailed and horrifically awesome gore in a video game to date. The extremely violent gameplay reveal trailer had jaws hitting the floor the world over, as Bethesda offered the world the first glimpses at the brand new Doom campaign. While Bethesda's E3 2015 press conference was largely dominated by and remembered for Fallout 4, the exciting Doom reboot also managed to turn some heads.
